NARI's certification program recognizes the skills and achievements of three distinct groups of remodeling professionals of particular interest to homeowners: Certified Remodelers (CRs), Certified Remodeler Specialists (CRSs), and Certified Lead Carpenters (CLCs).
• Certified Remodelers are professional remodelers who provide a full range of remodeling services. To become a Certified Remodeler, candidates must possess skill and knowledge in a broad range of business management and technical skill areas.
• Certified Remodeler Specialists are professional remodelers who focus on a specific type of work and serve the needs of homeowners interested in that particular area of technical excellence, such as concrete and masonry work, electrical work, insulation, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, roofing, and siding.
• NARI Certified Lead Carpenters are the hands-on field personnel who oversee every aspect of the project - customer satisfaction, personnel management, administration, etc. while working on the project.
The screening and certification process is essentially the same for all of NARI's certification designations. And all NARI certified remodeling professionals have pledged to abide by NARI's strict Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Only the most dedicated professional remodelers can become certified by NARI.
It's no wonder homeowners feel more comfortable relying on remodelers who have earned NARI certification.
Homeowners who hire a NARI Certified Remodeler, NARI Certified Remodeler Specialist, or NARI Certified Lead Carpenter have the assurance that they have chosen a professional remodeler with specific experience, dedication to training, and a commitment to ethical conduct through participation in the NARI certification program.
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is the only national association dedicated solely to the remodeling industry. NARI's focus is on professional conduct, continuing education and training, and fair and ethical treatment within the industry. NARI certification of professional remodeling contractors serves as the Association’s recognition of remodeling professionals who have met stringent criteria for experience and pledged a commitment to high standards of practice and NARI’s Code of Ethics. Among the factors to consider when selecting a remodeler, in addition to NARI certification, are your assessment and satisfaction with the remodeler’s workmanship, reputation and integrity, durability of materials used, and equipment. Before hiring any remodeler, visit and inspect similar projects that he or she has completed, and establish that you will be able to communicate well with each other to ensure your complete satisfaction with the final product.
